Most homeowners don’t know what to ask a builder until they’re already in too deep.
By then, the quote’s been accepted, the stress levels are rising, and nobody wants to admit they’re not entirely sure what’s included, what’s missing, or whether the builder has actually priced the job properly.
That’s exactly why I created this free guide:
Before You Appoint a Builder
10 essential questions to protect your budget, timeline and home
It covers the questions worth asking, why they matter, and what you should actually be listening for in the reply.
Because “they seemed nice” is not really due diligence.
Comment GUIDE and I’ll DM you the link to get it.
Or, if you’d rather, it’s in my bio.

I need a small favour.
I’m looking for 5 homeowners who are planning a small refurb, redecoration project or home update in the coming months.
I’m refining my Design Hotline, which is my one-room-one-problem online consultation for people who want practical interiors advice without committing to a full design project.
But before I make any tweaks, I’d really like to hear from the people it’s actually meant for.
I want to understand what’s niggling away at you before work starts. The item your brain keep circling. The decision you’re leaving until “later”. The bit you wish someone would just deal with so you can move on with your life.
It’ll be a 20-minute chat. No pressure. No pitch. Just a proper conversation about what would make online design advice genuinely useful.
As a thank you, I’ll send a £15 John Lewis voucher after the call.
If that sounds like you, comment HELP below and I’ll message you.

A refurb is all fun and Pinterest boards until someone asks where the towel rail is going.
Then suddenly you’re knee-deep in sockets, grout colours, switch plates, tile quantities, delivery dates and decisions you didn’t even know were decisions.
This is why home refurbs become overwhelming so quickly.
Not because you’re doing it wrong.
Because the “small” decisions are rarely small once the project is live.
I’ve written the first post in a new short blog series about exactly this.
Why Home Refurbs Become Overwhelming So Quickly
Comment REFURB below, ideally before you’re panic-choosing sockets at 10.43pm and I’ll ping you the link to the blog post for a bit of light reading.

This morning we were woken up by what honestly sounded like a car driving into the front of the house.
Adrian shot downstairs. I followed shortly after, bracing for impact.
It wasn’t a car.
It was the glass shelves in our crockery cupboard collapsing… and taking everything with them.
Plates, bowls, glasses, the lot. All over the kitchen floor.
Three and a half years of “this seems absolutely fine” and then, quite suddenly, not fine at all.
We didn’t design this kitchen, it came with the house, and I have never once questioned those shelves. They were toughened glass. They looked solid. Everything sat there perfectly happily. Until it didn’t.
25 years of crockery gone! My lovely ‘good’ Villeroy & Boch plates and platters now shattered! 😢
So, a small but important note from someone now sweeping up the aftermath:
if you have glass shelving holding anything heavy, please PLEASE check the fixings. Ours were plastic. Which, in hindsight, maybe we should have thought about. But who does right?
Metal fixings. Always.
Anyway. If anyone knows whether this is something contents insurance will entertain, I’m all ears.
And please tell me we’re not alone…
what’s the most chaotic thing that’s happened in your home?

There is a street in Notting Hill where all the wee houses are painted different colours.
And I think there was a story some time back about a lady in Bath (?) who painted her front door Barbie pink and the neighbours objected.
I live in an area with wonderful 1930 architecture and most of the front doors are beautiful original carved wood. Seriously drool worthy.
Sadly I suspect, pink would be the fast track to getting me removed off the street WhatsApp group. 🫣😂
#caseyandfox #pinkdoor
Ok mucking around with AI makes this far too easy. Not sure about the yellow…
#yellowfrontdoor #yellowlove💛 #caseyandfox
I’ve been staring at this door for far too long.
We have a 1930s house.
Our front door is not original. (Sadly we are the only house on the street to not have the original.)
This replacement door is circa 1980’s or thereabouts.
That brown has to go.
The reality is it opens into a dark, enclosed porch, so whatever goes here needs to earn its keep. It can’t just sit there looking pretty.
I’ve narrowed it down to a few options.
Some feel right. Some feel… questionable.
I do have a favourite.
But I’m curious where you land on this.
⸻
Comment below and let me know your thoughts!
1, 2, 3, 4 or 5?
⸻
(And yes… replacing the whole thing was briefly considered until I got a quote and nearly passed out.)

Casey & Fox turns 14 today, which feels slightly surreal and, if I’m honest, hard won.
This little carousel shares a few of the things those 14 years have taught me about running a design business. Not the shiny version. The real one. The bit behind the finished rooms, the polished photos, and the lovely final reveals.
If you’d like to read the full blog post, comment 14 and I’ll send it over. There’s also a little 🎂 🎉🥳 birthday offer tucked away at the bottom of the blog post so be sure to grab that before the end of April!

Most people don’t book a Design Hotline because they want a “fun design chat.”
They book it because something in their home is driving them quietly mad.
A layout that doesn’t work no matter how many times you move the furniture.
A paint colour that looked lovely on Pinterest and absolutely awful on your actual wall.
A room that feels unfinished and meh… and you cannot work out why.
Or the classic… two people, one room, zero agreement.
This is the point where homeowners usually start impulse-buying things:
sofas, side tables, floor lamps, anything on sale really…
hoping the right purchase will magically fix the problem.
It won’t.
But a proper conversation will.
That’s what the Design Hotline is for.
One hour. One space.
Clear answers instead of expensive guessing.
If there’s a room in your home that’s been annoying you for months…
👆the link is in my profile.

It’s important to take some time out at this crazy busy time of year and do something silly that makes you sit, catch up with friends and laugh.
My lovely friend @rikachandra_akuru invited me to this fun event in Bromley with @studiobeci as our talented art instructor.
Really good fun and just what I needed.
Thanks Rika 😘

If your bedroom has slowly turned into the place where mismatched furniture goes to die, you are not alone.
So many of my Design Hotline clients come to me feeling irritated with their space and unsure how to fix it without spending a fortune or starting from scratch.
One recent client had a huge and genuinely beautiful master bedroom, but the furniture had been collected from different homes over the years and none of it worked together.
The layout felt confused, the colours clashed, and the room had lost any sense of calm. She told me she avoided spending time in there because it just felt “off”.
In just 1 Design Hotline session, we reshaped the layout, gave every piece a clear purpose, created a colour direction she loved, and brought back the softness and balance the room was missing. The relief she felt when everything finally made sense was unmistakable.
If you are renting, if your bedroom is full of pieces that “sort of fit”, or if you wake up and immediately feel annoyed by the space, this virtual service was created for you.
A calm bedroom is not a luxury. It is the foundation for how you start and end your day, and you deserve for it to feel good.
If you want clarity, direction, and a room that finally works the way you want it to, book a 1 Hour Design Hotline with me.
One room. One hour. Real progress.
Link in bio to book your January refresh.

Still a bit stunned to share this… I won Best Networker 2025 for the Athena Wimbledon group at yesterday’s Christmas lunch.
When I rejoined Athena in May, I remembered how supportive it had been years ago, but I didn’t expect to lean in quite so deeply. The online format made it easy for me to show up consistently, connect with more members, and make the most of every opportunity.
What I didn’t anticipate was how much I would need that community this autumn. The last few months have been personally difficult, with a bereavement, very unwell family members, and the constant juggling act of trying to run a business while putting out fires at home. It has been a lot.
But the women in Athena Wimbledon… they showed up for me. Small check-ins. Kind messages. Genuine warmth. Exactly when I needed it most.
So to receive this award, in a room full of women I admire, felt incredibly meaningful. Unexpected, humbling, and a real lift at the end of a heavy season.
Thank you Athena. Thank you Wimbledon. And thank you to every woman who has made this network feel like home. I am very grateful.

Last Thursday I swapped floor plans and lighting layouts for black tie and fairy lights at The ABBBA Awards @theabbbas, supporting my fellow Bromley Business Network members, many of whom were finalists on the night.
The room was full of brilliant local businesses and some very special people:
✨ Huge congratulations to Mercedes Yearly of Quest Soul Theatre, who took home two awards. Such a well deserved win.
✨ Chandra Sharma for winning Business Personality of the Year. Nobody works a room quite like Chandra.
✨ Bayo Igho of @bigohcoaching, who was the most fantastic MC and kept the whole evening flowing.
✨ Lauretta Wright of Life In Magazines, the founder and organiser of The ABBBA Awards.
✨ Susan Wright, whose legendary behind the scenes logistics kept everything running like clockwork.
Lovely to also see Leigh Bennett of EJJB Consulting, Joanne Bennett of The Chartwell Cancer Trust, Faye Cox and Frances Lamberth there too.
And a special mention to my brilliant tablemates, Sean and Jonathan from Optimise Accountants and Jenni Farrow of Farrow Home Staging. Fantastic company. Sorry I was so tired.
Nights like this remind me of how strong, kind and hard working the local business community is. Very proud to be part of it.
📸 A few highlights from the evening.

e been a bit quiet on here and wanted to share why. A few weeks ago life came at me with full force and I’ve been juggling more than I ever expected.
My lovely father-in-law passed away at 88. A great age, but still heartbreaking. My beautiful mother-in-law has been in hospital for a month with meningitis and is still very unwell. My own mum has had some health issues too.
So yes… it has been a lot. And social media has been right at the bottom of the list while I’ve tried to put one foot in front of the other. I genuinely don’t know how some people keep showing up every day. Huge respect to them. This is simply my reality at the moment.
But I know this is a phase. I know things will get better. I’m a glass half full girl at heart, even when my focus has left the building.
If you’ve ever fallen off the wagon with life or work or focus, tell me how you got back on. Seriously… send me your best tips. I would love to hear them.
Thanks for being here. 💛

Ever wondered what your interior designer gets up to when they go quiet for a few days?
This week it was Decorex, London’s biggest interior design trade show and the highlight of my professional calendar.
A full day of discovering new materials, meeting suppliers, and seeing what’s next in lighting, fabrics, finishes and innovation.
It’s not all glamorous (my feet will confirm that), but it’s where the ideas start; the textures, colours and finishes you’ll see in future projects often begin right here.
So if your designer disappears during Decorex week, don’t worry… we’re just out refilling the creative tank.
🎥 Thanks for coming along for the ride.

I’ve seen this soooo many times, even with friends, and have had to bite my tongue.
A perfect living room scheme, just completed.
New furniture and rug freshly installed.
Gorgeous wallpaper. Beautiful art adorning the walls.
And then… someone sticks in a cool white LED.
No. No. No.
💡 The colour of your light bulb matters.
The colour of light (or colour temperature) is measured in Kelvin (K).
👉 Higher numbers = cooler, bluer light
👉 Lower numbers = warmer, yellower light
This isn’t about actual heat. It’s about the hue of the light, and it can completely transform how a room feels and looks:
• 2700K → warm white, soft and inviting (perfect for living rooms and bedrooms)
• 3000K → warm-neutral, a little crisper but still cosy (the ideal all-rounder for most homes)
• 4000K+ → cool white, bright and clinical (great for hospitals and dentists… less so for your sitting room)
Get this wrong and even the best-designed space can look harsh, flat, or just off.
👉 Next time you are bulb shopping, just pause and look over the box for the Kelvin!
👉🔖 Save this post for your next bulb shop. Your future self will thank you!

Just me. A pile of Vanderhurd embroidered fabrics. And a hundred design decisions disguised as casual flicking.
These samples are for a teenage girl’s room. The window treatments need to feel playful but still have enough sophistication to grow with her.
I’m looking at beautiful textures, hand embroidery and layered patterns that add personality without tipping into “little girl” territory.
This is the part of the process that rarely makes it onto Instagram, but it’s where the whole scheme starts to take shape.
Colour, texture, pattern and scale all quietly shape how a room feels, long before anything’s installed.

Bathrooms look simple… until you’re knee-deep in drainage diagrams, tile lead times, and 47 different brassware finishes.
Most first-timers get caught out by the unsexy but critical stuff. Things like where the loo can actually go, how long the tiles will take to arrive, or the fact that yes, you really do need a proper tanking system.
These are the details I talk through with almost every client because fixing mistakes once the plumber is on site is messy, stressful, and expensive.
If you want to avoid the classic bathroom blunders and get your layout, fittings and finishes right before your bathroom refurb starts, book a 1-Hour Design Hotline with me to sanity-check your design plan.
We’ll tackle the practical decisions, identify potential red flags, and get your bathroom plan watertight (literally).
✨ One hour. One room. Sorted.
